NORCECA qualifiers Round Up
Hosts Jamaica blanked Haiti in straight sets on the opening night of North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Group ‘D’ of the Men’s World Championship qualifiers.
The game was the second match of a double-header at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston last night.
The Jamaicans won their Pool ‘A’ game 25-16, 25-23, 25-20 to successfully launch their qualifying campaign.
Jamaica were led by Namarie Gordon who got 10 points while the impressive Mark Lewis finished with nine from his appearance in the third set.
In the first game, St Lucia wasted a two-set advantage to tumble to defeat at the hands of The Bahamas.
Meanwhile, Cayman Islands are now playing Haiti on today’s second day. The other match will feature Bahamas against Mexico, starting at 7 o’clock.
