Jamaica take on Cayman Islands today
Hosts Jamaica will tonight continue their quest to win Group ‘D’ of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Men’s World Championship qualifiers.
The Jamaicans will meet Cayman Islands and are highly fancied to cement a semi-final spot.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the National Indoor Sports Centre and is the final match in the preliminary round.
The Jamaicans easily defeated Haiti in straight sets on Wednesday night to win their opening Pool ‘A’ game.
Jamaica and Haiti lead the standings with three points. However, Haiti have completed their fixture having defeated Cayman Islands in straight sets last night.
In the opening game this afternoon, Mexico will take on St Lucia in a Pool ‘B’ game, beginning at 5 p.m.
Mexico defeated The Bahamas in straight sets last night. Both teams are on 3 points, while the other team in the Pool, St Lucia are on 0.
The semi-finals will be played tomorrow, with the final and third place play-offs scheduled for Sunday.
The two top teams will advance to the third round of World Championship qualifiers, which will be hosted by either Puerto Rico or Cuba from July 8 to 12.
