BOJ honours gold medal winners
The country’s gold medal winners at last summer’s Beijing Olympics were today presented with souvenir gold coins by the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ).
The presentation took place at a ceremony held at the BOJ Auditorium.
The central bank Governor, Derick Latibeaudiere made presentations to triple gold medallist Usain Bolt, 100 metre gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser, 400 metre hurdles gold medallist Melaine Walker and Asafa Powell, a member of the men’s 4 x 100 metre relay team.
Veronica Campbell Brown, the Olympic 200 metre champion, Michael Frater and Nester Carter were absent.
Frater and Carter were also part of the sprint relay gold medal team.
Coins were also presented to Sports Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, Mike Fennell, president of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), Bruce James, president of the MVP Track Club, Bolt’s Glen Mills and manager Norman Peart.
