Trinidad and Tobago prime minister Patrick Manning has confirmed the resignation of Attorney General, Brigid Annisette-George.
He said she anticipated that she would have found herself in a situation of conflict of interest regarding the embattled regional insurance company, CLICO.
CLICO has been at the centre of a multi-billion dollar bailout package recently approved by the Trinidad and Tobago government for its ailing parent company, CL Financial Limited.
Manning did not go into details on the perceived conflict of interest but he told parliament that Anisette- George’s resignation would take effect on Friday.
John Jeremy, the man who held the post of Attorney General before Annisette-George, is expected to retake the job.
