Waulgrovians ‘A’ turned in a good performance last night to beat defending champions JAMALCO 49-46 in Game One of the best-of-three finals of the Jamaica Netball Association/Berger Paints Super League.

The game was played at the Leila Robinson Courts.

JAMALCO led for the first two quarters, 15-12 and 26-24, but Waulgrovians hit back winning the third quarter 36-32 on their way to take an important 1-0 lead.

National senior player Christina Solmon led the way for Waulgrovian ‘A’ with 28 goals from 30 attempts, while Simone Forbes, the senior team captain had 21 from 27 attempts.

For JAMALCO, who are searching for their seventh straight title, former national player Elaine Davis scored a game-high 40 goals from 46 attempts and Marsha Murray had six from eight.

Waulgrovians coach Patrick Brissett was pleased with the victory. However, he says the team needs to cut down on their high level of turnovers.

Game Two will take place tomorrow following the playoff for third place between last year’s beaten finalist Tivoli ‘A’ and Windalco at 4 p.m.
