John Jeremie has been sworn in as Trinidad and Tobago’s attorney general for a second time.

Mr Jeremie was sworn in this morning, replacing Bridgid Annisette-George, who resigned because of a possible conflict of interest.

The conflict involves the government’s financial rescue of the Trinidad-based regional conglomerate CL Financial and its flag ship company (CLICO).

Following a brief swearing in ceremony at the President House this morning, Prime Minister Patrick Manning thanked Mrs Annisette-George for her work.

However, he would not elaborate on the conflict of interest issue.

Mr Manning said the matter had not led to a split in his 18 month administration, despite these claims by the Opposition claims.
