Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday has reiterated his call for President George Maxwell Richards to resign following the controversial appointment and resignation of the members of the Integrity Commission last month.

In a radio and television on Friday night, President Richards brushed aside calls for his resignation saying he would not allow the situation to be manipulated.

The Trinidad and Tobago Head of State also reiterated his earlier statement that there was no constitutional crisis as a result of the controversy.

The President says he has already apologized for the error of judgement and listened carefully to the comments expressed by members of the public, to which he says he has given due consideration.

But Panday told reporters that the President said nothing new to make him change his mind and accused the Head of State of hiding behind the Constitution and protocol.
