KSAFA competition suspended

A dispute over referees’ jerseys between the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) has resulted in the suspension of all KSAFA-run competitions.

KSAFA president Rudolph Speid says his association suspended all its competitions with immediate effect after receiving a memorandum from the JFF advising that only shirts branded with Digicel logos should be used by the referees.

Speid says KSAFA had written to the JFF requesting a waiver to use alternative jerseys because a firm that is a direct competitor to Digicel is the sponsors of its competitions.

However, Speid says the request was not granted.

Speid further says KSAFA will have further dialogue with the JFF to find a solution to the problem.

When contacted, JFF president Captain Horace Burrell was in a meeting.

Six KSAFA competitions have been affected including the Syd Bartlett and Major League.
