The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), last night ended the stint of national senior head coach John Barnes after the former Jamaican-born and England international agreed to take up an offer with English League Two Club Tranmere Rovers.

Assistant coach Theodore Whitmore takes over as head coach on a one-year contract.

Barnes, who led the Reggae Boyz to an exciting 3-2 victory over Panama in an international friendly last night at the National Stadium, says he was disappointment with the JFF’s decision because his contract ends after the Gold Cup.

However, JFF’s president Captain Horace Burrell says Barnes supported the decision to part company.

Barnes officially took up duties as head coach at the Digicel Caribbean Championship in December, which Jamaica won to qualify for the Gold Cup.
