Argentina\'s bid to qualify for next year\'s World Cup in South Africa suffered a setback after losing

2-0 to hosts Ecuador yesterday.



Despite the defeat, the two-time World Cup champion remained in the top four in the South American qualifying standings.



The top four advance automatically to next year\'s finals in South Africa.



Ecuador improved to 20 points, two fewer than Argentina.



Meanwhile, striker Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe scored twice to lead England to a 6-0 rout of Andorra to push the team closer to World Cup qualification.



England lead Group 6 of the European qualifiers with 21 points, 10 ahead of Croatia and Ukraine on 11 points each.
