England against South Africa

England, opting to bat after winning the toss, were struggling on 34 for three after eight overs against South Africa in their opening 20/20 World Cup Super 8 game at Trent Bridge in England.



The batsmen back in the pavilion are Ravi Bopara for two, Luke Wright for one and Kevin Pietersen for 19.



Meanwhile, Aaron Redmond made a blistering 63 on his international 20/20 debut, as New Zealand beat Ireland by 83 runs in the opening game of the Super 8 phase.



Redmond reached his half century off 23 balls and struck 13 boundaries from just 30 deliveries.



Scott Styris smashed 42 from 25 balls and Martin Guptil anchored the innings with an unbeaten 45 as New Zealand scored 198 for 5.



New Zealand ran out four Irish batsmen and Nathan McCallum took three wickets as Ireland were bowled out for 115 off 16.4 overs.



Andre Botha, 28, and Alex Cusack, 20, scored most runs for Ireland.
