South Africa strolled to a seven-wicket victory over hosts England today with 10 balls to spare in their opening Twenty/Twenty World Cup Super 8s game at Trent Bridge.



Jacques Kallis hit 57 not out and Herschelle Gibbs, 30, as South Africa made 114 for 3 after England collapsed for 111 in 19.5 overs with Owais Shah top scoring with 38.



Wayne Parnell was the most successful bowler for South Africa with 3 for 14 from four overs. Kallis and Roelof van der Merwe supported with two wickets each.



In the opening game of the Super Eight phase this morning, Aaron Redmond made a blistering 63 on his international Twenty/Twenty debut, as New Zealand beat Ireland by 83 runs.



West Indies will bow into action tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock Jamaica time against India. The game will be the second of two matches at Lord’s. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face off at 7:30 in first match.
