St. Kitts PM investigates airport incident

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts, Dr. Denzil Douglas has ordered an investigation into last night’s incident of faulty lighting at the island’s Robert Bradshaw International Airport.

The bad lighting forced a number of arriving delegates, including Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, to be re-routed to another landing site.

The airport problem led to a two-hour delay of the start of today’s Petro Caribe summit, with Chavez arriving in St Kitts just minutes before the start of the meeting.

Prime Minister Douglas said he wants to know whether foul play was involved in the incident.

He said investigations would be conducted quickly.
