Britain\'s Department for International Development has established an US$8.2M trust fund at the Caribbean Development Bank to help African, Caribbean and Pacific states.

The Caribbean Aid for Trade and Regional Integration Trust Fund, called the CART FUND, will help the CARICOM and CARIFORUM group of countries to boost growth and reduce poverty.

The Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat said the fund will be managed by a steering committee, comprising representatives of the British Department, CARICOM and CARIFORUM.

The fund forms part of Britain\'s commitment to provide aid for trade funding to the Caribbean.

Britain made this pledge during last year’s signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement between CARIFORUM and the European Community.
