Manchester Lions defeat Hanover Dolphins
In a dramatic final round of matches, Manchester Lions defeated Hanover Dolphins by an innings and 20 runs at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay yesterday to win the country’s premier cricket competition, the Jamaica Super League.
Replying to Hanover Dolphins’ first innings total of 16, Manchester Lions declared at their overnight total of 68 for two and then bowled out Hanover Dolphins for 32 in the second innings.
Manchester Lions ended the championship on 29 points, two ahead of Melbourne Kangaroos, who led the points table after defeating defending champions St Catherine Saints by five run on Saturday’s first day of their two day fixture at Chedwin Park.
Hanover Dolphins were relegated after finishing at the bottom of the table on four points.
In other games yesterday, the Westmoreland Wizards, Trelawny Buccaneers match at St Elizabeth Technical High School ended in a draw, while Kingston Tigers beat St Elizabeth Warriors by nine wickets at Sabina Park.
