Montserrat leader fires Cabinet ministers

The Chief Minister of Monsterrat Dr. Lowell Lewis has fired two of his Cabinet ministers.



They are the economic development and agriculture Minister Reuben Meade and the education and health minister Roslyn Cassell-Sealy.



Their sacking comes two days after the chief minister asked Peter Waterworth, the Governor of the British territory to dissolve the Legislative Council.



Dr. Lewis says the move will pave the way for fresh general elections.



According to him, the decision to call elections was prompted by a meeting of the Cabinet last Thursday.



He acknowledged that there was limited support from some of his colleagues, and some changes needed to take place.
