DUSSELDORF, Germany (CMC):
Jamaica's Lerone Clarke clocked a personal best 6.62 seconds for the runner-up spot in the men's 60 metres at the International PSD Bank Indoor Meet 2010 in Dusseldorf on Wednesday.
The event was won by American Mark Jelks in a new 2010 world best time of 6.56 seconds. Dutch Antilles' Churandy Martina was fifth with a national record of 6.65.
US Virgin Islands' sprint ace, Laverne Jones-Ferrette, fired another early warning in the indoor campaign when she defeated the highly regarded Carmelita Jeter in the 60 metres.
Fresh from her world-leading 7.09 seconds performance in Karlsruhe at the weekend, Jones-Ferrette laid down another eye-popping mark that equalled the year's best time as she outpaced American World Championship 100-metre bronze medallist Jeter, who finished in 7.13.
