Apprentice Gordon banned
The stewards on Tuesday imposed a two-day suspension on top apprentice Doushane Gordon for careless riding on his part at Caymanas Park on Saturday, May 8. His suspension commences tomorrow.
Gordon, who rode two winners on Wednesday, including the 19-1 outsider ANTIOCH, was penalised for foul riding aboard THE BEST MAN in the sixth race on the day in question.
He was cited for causing interference to both GOOD SENSE and GAMBOA in the vicinity of the half mile in the race won by GRACE MARIE.
In third position
Gordon, who started riding on September 2 last year, is the leading apprentice with 56 winners - 29 of these coming this season. He holds down third position in the jockeys' standings behind reigning champion Omar Walker (44) and Paul Francis (31).
Meanwhile, the stewards have also imposed a one-day ban on Phillip Clunis.
The jockey, who rode KAMEEL in the fourth race on Wednesday, April 30, was stood down for causing interference to WARR ANGEL leaving the half mile. His suspension takes effect tomorrow.
