CTL moves to upgrade its customer service
Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) are placing a greater emphasis on the training of terminal operators at Caymanas Park.
This was disclosed at Caymanas Park last Saturday by CTL board member Camille Buchanan, who has responsibility for human resource and industrial relations matters on the board.
Buchanan, who is also councillor for the Gregory Park division in the Portmore municipality, said CTL recognised the need to upgrade the skills of its customer service employees such as terminal operators and 17 new persons were trained recently.
Buchanan, who personally conducted the courses over a two-week period at Caymanas Park, said the recruits responded very well to the training which includes deportment, social graces, communication, speech and voice training. She said the applicants chosen were required to send a picture of themselves, among other things.
Buchanan was quick to add that that the ladies were trained to be versatile. In addition to working within the pari-mutuel system as operators, some would be required to be hostesses every now and then on big racedays like Derby Day.
According to the CTL director, the new terminal operators are having a positive effect in the area of customer service.
Pari-mutuel staff
"Surveys indicate that punters at Caymanas Park have already noticed a difference in the attitude of the pari-mutuel staff with the introduction of the new trainees.
"The programme is ongoing and we recently invited another batch of 16 permanent terminal operators to a one-day workshop on personal development", she disclosed.
Kimberly Reynolds, one of the 17 newcomers, said the two-week course was enlightening and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
An attractive young lady, Kimberly worked in the directors' room on Derby Day assisting the CTL marketing team as hostess.
