TCL one-dayers washed out

CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC):

All three games in the opening round of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 One-Day Trophy were washed out yesterday after heavy rain doused the island leaving venues under water and forcing officials to abandon any hopes of play.

The only venue that saw action was the Gros Islet Playing Field, but rain allowed all of five balls and three minutes of play before forcing the teams from the field at 9:38 a.m., with Leeward Islands on three without loss after being sent in by Guyana.

The other two scheduled games were Trinidad and Tobago versus Jamaica and Barbados versus Windward Islands. All teams were awarded a single point.

Today is a rest day. The second series of matches bowl off tomorrow.
