That's My Style: Keida - classy and rugged

Published:Saturday | July 31, 2010 | 12:00 AM

She is from the big, bad Bull Bay!

Hot it up! Hot it up! Hot it up! Keida jus' a hot it up!

With the arts running through her veins, this Jane of all trends and master of many is exactly what the entertainment industry needs to cause trouble, with the 'fiah she a blaze'.

If there were ever a city that reflected your style, which would it be, and why?

I'd have to say Kingston because it ranges from classy to rugged.

What season best suits your style?

Summer, because I'm a beach bum.

What, in your opinion, was the best fashion trend (clothing, shoes, etc) of the '90s?

Bell-bottoms.

What is the best-recycled trend to hit summer 2010?

Hmm, I'll have to go with chunky necklaces.

How would you say your style is different from other artistes?

I wouldn't say I'm that different, I'm a creative person so my style varies from time to time.

When, in your opinion, is a man at his sexiest?

In linen pants.

Name five things that make you complete.

My family, music, art, God, the beach.

Tell us five things that (are not secrets, but fun or cool stuff) your fans or persons in general would never guess or know about you.

I have eight brothers and sisters.

I have a fear of caterpillars.

I started my music career in March 2009.

I love to paint.

I love watching mystery movies.

If you were invited to meet your boyfriend's parents for dinner at their house, what would you wear?

I'd probably wear a nice, modest dress with flats.

What are you most comfortable in?

Jeans and a T-shirt.

What's the most expensive piece of clothing or accessory you have ever purchased?

A ball gown (Lol).

As an artiste, how important is it to always stay abreast of the latest trend?

It's important to know what's in and what's not. As an artiste, you have a lot of youngsters looking to you to set the trend.

How has dancehall influenced fashion trends in your opinion?

If you look at the history of dancehall, you will see that both it and fashion go hand in hand.

Many times the lyrics themselves set the trend. Like back in the day the popularity of mesh merinos was due to dancehall.

And even more recently, Vybz Kartel has made Clarks popular again with one of his latest songs.

Take them to school …

Always mix and match stuff, get in touch with your artistic style and remember to accessorise!
