'... The mark will go down to 9.4'

SYDNEY, Australia (CMC):

Usain Bolt has two goals over the next two years, which he believes will lead to him leaving the sport as a legend.

The Jamaican sprint megastar is eyeing a superhuman 9.4 seconds in the men's 100 metres dash and recapturing his 100 and 200 titles at the World Championships next year in Tokyo, and the 2012 Olympics in London.

Bolt is in Australia on a promotional tour. He holds the world record for the 100 at 9.58 seconds and believes he can lower his own mark over the next two years.

Anything is possible

"I'm hoping to be that man, anything is possible and I'm going to go out there to do my best," he said.

"Next season, I'm going to work hard to try and lower that record and I've said over the last two years that the mark will go down to 9.4. For me anything is possible and I'll go out there and do my best.

"But that's where the record is gonna stay," he said, in reference to 9.4 seconds. "But it's not an obsession. I already have the world record."

He added: "Right now, there are a lot of guys out there who are trying to be the best. I think I'm the best, I proved it and I will keep going faster."

Bolt, a sprint double Olympic and world champion, also reiterated that to leave his mark on the sport he had to repeat as champions in both of the short sprints in Tokyo and London.

Want to be a legend

"My aim is for the (2011) World Championships. If I want to be a legend in sport I have to defend my titles, so that's what I'm going to do," he said.

"Both (the Olympics and Worlds) are major priorities. I want to be a legend and I think both are very important to defend my titles."

Bolt has been invited to be part of celebration to mark 10 years since the New South Wales city hosted the Olympics.

He has spent part of his time in Australia coaching several elite footballers in preparation for a cross-code football sprint at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.
