ETOBICOKE, Canada (CMC):

Emile Ramsammy, Slade Callaghan, and Patrick Husbands completed a Caribbean triple on the nine-race, midweek race card on Wednesday at Woodbine.

Callaghan opened the even-ing's programme with a 2-length victory aboard the 4-1 choice Torched Cherry in the CAN $37,900 first race over 1,000 metres on the Polytrack.

The Barbadian jockey steered the two-year-old brown filly to her maiden victory, after she set all the fractions before stamping her authority in the stretch to clock 58.49 seconds.

Ramsammy followed suit, taking the CAN $57,000 second race going 1,200m with the 3-1 chance Sinister Quill by a nose.

The evergreen Trinidad & Tobago jockey settled the two-year-old chestnut filly in the middle of the pack before urging her home in the stretch, where she outran Weekend Romance, under Barbadian Jono Jones, to finish in a time of 1 min, 12.50 secs.

Husbands, whose title hopes fade strong with each passing day, completed the Caribbean treble with a half-length win astride the 3-1 bet Aggressive Gal in the CAN $20,600 fifth race over 1,300m.

The ace Barbadian reinsman moved the three-year-old grey filly from off the pace, and after entering the stretch in fourth, drove for home, getting up late in 1:19.91.

Husbands, the multiple Sovereign Award winner and reigning jockey champion, has 160 wins for the season, and trails leader Eurico Da Silva on 179 wins. Ramsammy is sixth on 100.

The Woodbine season ends on December 5.
