A new DVD showcasing guitar maestro Ernest Ranglin will be released this month. It captures the veteran jazz man in concert at the Reggae On The River festival in California in 1998.

"He ripped the place up that day. It was really a memorable performance," said Floyd Seivright, whose Tropic Entertain-ment and Recording produced the DVD.

Ranglin was backed that day by the Blue People Band, which was led by Andy Bassford, the former guitarist for Lloyd Parks and We The People band.

Percussionist Larry McDonald and saxophonist Cedric 'Im' Brooks were also in the band.

The near two-hour performance was recorded and released as Ska Wey Dat, a live album which was released by Universal Music four years ago.

Ranglin is one of the pioneers of Jamaican popular music. He was among the first acts signed to Island Records, but also played on and arranged classic songs like Millie Small's My Boy Lollipop and It Hurts To Be Alone by The Wailers.
