Montego Bay-based businessmen Fred Smith and William Craig Jr kept both their fathers' tradition alive and well with the staging of the monthly social - The Monday Club.

The Monday Club is a meeting held monthly at various locations across Montego Bay. It was conceptualised by Ralph Smith and the late insurance broker and custos of St James, William 'Billy' Craig, more than 15 years ago. It was formed mainly to allow male professionals and businessmen to socialise once a month and has also served as an avenue to resolve any misunderstandings that may exist among members.

The first meeting for the year was held recently and Smith pulled out all the stops for an evening of lyming on-board the Reggae Baby boat, sailing across the Montego Bay harbour.

As the boat slowly drifted from the dock at Doctor's Cave Beach, the DJ on-board played some all-time favourite Studio One reggae by the likes of Beres Hammond, among others.

As the boat moved out to sea, the city of Montego Bay became more picturesque enveloped with bright lights - some forming various shapes, as traffic slowly traversed the Hip Strip (Gloucester Avenue).

Smith is the managing director of Exclusive Holidays and Tropical Tours - the latter was started by his father, Ralph, 35 years ago.

The date and venue of the next staging of The Monday Club is to be decided and all the members are looking forward to this welcome reprieve.
