StGC, Mona on top

St George's College (StGC) and Mona High are poised to reach the final of the ISSA/First Global 'A' League after both claimed first innings points over Pembroke Hall and Camperdown High, respectively, in two-day semi-final play yesterday.

The 'Georgians' who, like Mona, are undefeated in the competition thus far, ended the day in pole position after posting 177 for eight in reply to Pembroke Hall's 147 at Emmet Park.

Leading the way for St George's was Owain Adlam, who ended on undefeated 33.

Earlier, Pembroke Hall were restricted to their score as a result of some good off-spin bowling from Russell Lee, who claimed five for 34. Kimino Dawkins made 26.

"We are happy to have claimed first innings as it could decide the match," said St George's coach Glendon Coke.

At Mona, the home team first made 232 and Camperdown, in reply, were bowled out for 93.

Damale O'Gilvie, 87, made most runs for Mona against Craig Powell, three for 94, and Patrick Williams, three for 44.

Camperdown, in their response, were then undermined by off-spinner Keefer Francis, three for 10, and Kadeem Miller, three for 15.

"It feels good to know that we have crossed the first hurdle," said Mona coach Owen Speid.
