Five-dayban for Chatrie

The stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission has imposed a five-day suspension on top apprentice Aaron Chatrie, this for careless riding aboard THE GUV in the ninth race won by RONRON at Caymanas Park last Saturday.

Chatrie, voted the most improved rider of 2010, was penalised for causing interference to TRIPLE ACCOUNT in the vicinity of the half mile. His suspension takes effect next Wednesday, March 2.

Also suspended at the same hearing on Tuesday at the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission was jockey Chris Douglas.

He picked up four racedays for careless riding aboard BULLET TRAIN in the eighth race on Saturday, February 12. His mount caused interference to DIXIE CHICK at the 400-metre point. His suspension commences tomorrow.

Meanwhile, champion jockey Omar Walker, who rode FLAGAMAN in the first race on Monday, December 27 (Boxing Day), was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip after passing the winning post.

Walker should have appeared before the stewards on the previous Tuesday, but failed to attend the hearing. His explanation the following day was not accepted and he was automatically stood down last Saturday as a result.
