Fogo lead StJFA Claro Senior League

Perennial contenders Fogo United are now the sole leaders of the 12-team St James Football Association (StJFA) Claro Senior Football League, after scoring a 2-0 win over Revelation in their 12th- round fixture on Tuesday.

The Flankers-based Fogo have now moved to 26 points, two clear of second-place Melbourne. Montego Bay Boys Club (MBBC) sit third on 22 points.

"The season has been progressing quite smoothly and we are quite pleased about it," said Lilli-Mae Crawford, the FA's director of competitions. "The fact that the top five teams are only separated by five points speaks to the closeness of the competition."

Fogo have registered eight wins, two draws and two defeats in their 12 games, while scoring 23 goals and conceding seven, which makes them the best defensive team.

Melbourne have the distinction of being the competition's only unbeaten team, as they have had six wins and six draws, to secure 24 points. They have scored 16 goals and given up eight.

In contrast to Melbourne, third-place MBBC have suffered four defeats in their 12 games. Interes-tingly, they have won the other eight games, while amassing 22 points. They are also the competition's best offensive team, with 26 goals.

The full points standing reads: Fogo 26, Melbourne 24, MBBC 22, Granville City 21, Little Miami 21, Violet Kickers 19, Revelation 18, Salt Spring Roses 16, Mountain Villa 12, Barrett Town 10, North Gully seven and Salt Spring United one.
