Seba celebrate with 4-0 win

Seba United, which came to Jarrett Park on Sunday afternoon knowing that regardless of the result in their game against Montpelier Football Cub they would still be presented with the Captain's Bakery & Grill Western Super League title, celebrated the occasion in style with a 4-0 win.

"While we knew we would be getting the trophy today we were not distracted," said Seba's coach Danilo Barrigga, who has repeatedly stated that he wants his team to complete the season unbeaten. "Our aim was not to lose the game".

As a result of their win, the Seba team has lifted their points tally atop the 12-team competition to an amazing 58 points, 18 clear of second-place Wadadah. In addition, the team's scoring record now reads 52 goals for and four against in 21 games.

In a game in which they displayed a lot of intensity and purpose, the Seba team was all over Montpelier as after a close 1-0 first half scoreline, they increased the tempo in the second half and were rewarded with three additional goals. Kemar James (two), Jovian Bailey and the prolific Jermie Bucknor got the goals.

"We really wanted to make today special for our management and supporters," said Iton Scott, captain of the victorious Seba team. "We told ourselves at the start of the second half that we would be trying to get a few more goals."

Seba United, who are now preparing for the upcoming Digicel Premier League (DPL) qualifying competition, which will produce two qualifiers for the 2011-12 DPL, opened their account in the 35th minute when the wily James fired home from close range.

With Seba entering the second half looking ominous, James was again on target in the 59th minute. After catching the Montpelier defence napping, he scored easily to make the score 2-0, blunting the resolve of Montpelier in the process.

On a mission deep inside the Montpelier half, Bailey joined James on the scoresheet in the 75th minute when he breached the Montpelier defence and fired home, making the score 3-0.

With time running out in the game, Seba United added more gloss to their afternoon assignment in the 85th minute, when the prolific Bucknor raced through the heart of the Montpelier defence and booted home, making the final score 4-0.
