Quickies: Mavado a 'Star Bwoy' on screen
Mavado has been amping up his visuals from the start of the year, appearing in videos for DASECA's just-released Category 5 medley video, his collaboration with Shaggy Girls Dem Love We, DJ Khaled's mega-remix for Welcome To My Hood, a collab with Sony Records UK artiste Chipmunk and his own dancehall smash Star Bwoy.
The last, a Winston 'Tyson' Mayhew-directed video, is unique, as it incorporates never-before-seen footage from Mavado's triumphant return to New York, after a year's absence due to the loss of his US visa in 2008. A camera followed Mavado and his entourage around New York - in studio, in the streets, shopping and performing in front of thousands of people.
"You know we always do our ting different," says Mavado. "My fans are always asking me for more visuals, but we have to make sure everything is right and stands out from everybody else. The way we put this video together with new and old footage makes it really unique. I know my fans are going to love it. They can expect a lot more from me this year too, no ease up."
DJ Khaled's Welcome To My Hood remix video, which features Mavado alongside Ludacris, T Pain, Busta Rhymes and a host of other rappers, will debut on BET's 106 & Park in the coming weeks.

TJ Records hosts 'Bottle Party'
Last year was quiet for Billboard charting producer TJ Records. However, he managed to keep the momentum going with the inescapable Touch a Button by Vybz Kartel and the DNA rhythm project.
TJ is off to a good start in 2011 as he recently released the Bottle Party and Star a Star rhythm projects. The Bottle Party features Hear Dem a Talk by Popcaan, More than Neo by Vybz Kartel, Popping Bottles by Beenie Man and Lolita and Chuck Off by Bugle. Cute Baby by Richie Feelings, Nuh Fear Dem by Assassin, Wife a Wife by Lady Saw and Truck Tru by Tony Matterhorn are the musical missiles accompanying the heavily laden Star a Star. Additionally, TJ has another dance floor jam called Turn up Di Scheme by Vybz Kartel.
Known for the Unfinished Business rhythm project, TJ is one of a handful of Jamaican producers to have had multiple successes on the American pop and R&B charts. Unfinished Business cruised its way into several Billboard charts with hits such as So Special by Mavado and No Games by Serani.
Both the Bottle Party and Star a Star tracks are available on iTunes.
'Reggae 4 Japan' moved to June 5
The benefit concert 'Reggae 4 Japan' is now slated for June 5 at York College in Queens, New York. The concert is being organised by Japanese sound system Mighty Crown, their management team Irish and Chin, VP Records, media partner IrieJam Radio and Japanese corporate sponsors Nine Rulaz Line, Woofin' Magazine, Yokohama Trading, 24x7 Records, Rockers Island and Nesta Clothing.
The line-up includes Maxi Priest, Freddie McGregor and the Big Ship Family, Capleton, Tarrus Riley, Gramps Morgan, Peter Morgan, Alaine, Tanya Stephens, and Etana, backed by the Ruff Kutt band. Additional acts are still to be confirmed.
The concert was originally scheduled for April 21, but had to be pushed back to accommodate artistes who wished to show their support by performing on the concert. Co-owner of Mighty Crown Masta Simon said: "In this life, it's all about helping each other. When one is in trouble you reach out and help. I am forever grateful for the support of the reggae community in this effort. With such a great need for relief in Japan, I am calling out to all people to help. Regardless of one's connection to Japan - be it reggae music, electronics, automotive, fashion - I am calling on everyone to come out and support".
Japan experienced a massive earthquake on March 11.
Three husbands, no love
Whoopi Goldberg never loved any of her husbands. The comedian and actress has been married three times - to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, David Claessen from 1986 to 1988 and Lyle Trachtenberg for a year between 1994 and 1995 - but admitted she only wed because she "wanted to feel normal".
Whoopi said: "I suppose that, you know, you have to actually be in love with the person that you marry. You have to really be committed to them. And I'm just - I don't have that commitment. I wanted to feel normal. And it seemed to me that if I was married, I'd have a much normal life. But clearly, that's not the case. I'm committed to my family, you know, and so that relationship has lasted, you know, the longest."
Goldberg added she had been in love once, with a man who wasn't famous, and while things didn't work out between them, they remain close friends although he is married to someone else. Whoopi, 55, also said her greatest regret is never going to a birthday party for singer Sammy Davis Jr shortly before he passed away in 1990 from throat cancer. She said: "I was young and dumb and he passed like a couple of weeks later. And it devastated me because I thought; you know what, that's what you get. I just remember that he had been so good to me. And we were really good friends. I should have gone."
J Lo, world's most beautiful person
Jennifer Lopez has been named the world's most beautiful person. The 'American Idol' judge topped a poll by People magazine - beating the likes of Jessica Alba, Beyoncé Knowles and Zac Efron - and insists she works hard to look good.
She said: "The thing is, it's part of my job. I don't want anybody thinking it's easy. It does take time and it's hard work. HDTV wide-screen is nobody's friend!" However, the sexy 41-year-old star admitted she's pleased all her hard work has paid off, saying, "I feel happy and proud. Proud that I'm not 25!"
Despite her glamorous image, Jennifer, who has three-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with husband Marc Anthony, feels at her best when she's at home with no make-up on. She said: "That's when I'm my happiest. Just being able to touch my face and rub my eyes and put my fingers in my hair and not having to worry about messing it up. It's so much better."
Other stars to make the list include Jennifer Garner, Katie Holmes and Halle Berry, while previous winners have included Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
Dolly's GooGoo over Gaga
Dolly Parton wants to sing a duet with Lady Gaga. The country singer admires the eccentric pop star and was so impressed with Gaga's country-style version of her own hit Born This Way, she has decided they would make a great song together.
She said: "I think it's great. It's just wonderful. I love her. Maybe we should do something together." Parton then joked that she could name herself after a chocolate snack popular in her native southern America to sound similar to Gaga's own unusual self-styled moniker. She quipped: "GooGoo and Gaga! You know those GooGoo candy bars in Nashville? I could be Lady GooGoo."
Although more advanced in years, Dolly is similar to the 25-year-old Poker Face singer because both are proud of their eccentricities and are seemingly unconcerned with what others think of them. The 65-year-old music legend said: "I really do think that I stand for being proud of who you are and not worrying a lick about what other people think, really. I feel fortunate that I've never had to be anything other than myself."
Dolly has already teamed up with Queen Latifah. The two star as opposing choir members in new musical movie Joyful Noise and sing together on two tracks. Dolly said: "I wrote four of the numbers. There are a couple we got to do together. There's a lot of great music in the movie.
