Management programme for JFF's top brass

Gregory Engelbrecht, FIFA's senior manager of development programmes in the CONCACAF region, heads a team of officials from the sport's world governing body who will conduct a FIFA Management Programme leadership retreat in the island from April 29 to May 1.

Engelbrecht will be joined by FIFA development officer, Daryll Warner, and FIFA performance consultants Kevan Pipe, Peter Kay and Michel Sablon.

The retreat, which is specifically tailored for the members of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) board of directors, will be held at the Iberostar Beach Hotel and is expected to have all board members in attendance.

The retreat continues the programme begun by the current administration towards upgrading the knowledge and skills of the key stakeholders in football. Other stakeholders who have been exposed to regular training programmes include coaches, administrators and referees, as well as members of the secretariat.

RAISING PERFORMANCE

President of the JFF, Captain Horace Burrell, has stated that constant exposure to developments in the sport, and efforts at improving the skills and efficiency of those who administer the sport are critical to Jamaica raising its overall performance on the field and its standing in the region.

Among other things, the programme is geared to ensure that the member association, in this case the JFF, is better informed of its roles, responsibilities and operations and those of FIFA, the confederations and the regional association.

It is also hoped to facilitate the fostering of a clear understanding of effective and efficient policy-making by its executive committee and how policy implementation can be supported by its secretariat.

The programme will also help JFF leaders to identify the strengths and weaknesses of its management of operational and technical areas and the need for long term strategic planning.

Members of the FIFA delegation have also visited the FIFA Goal Project at the University of the West Indies, met with the chairman of the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS), the Reverend Al Miller, and were also expected to have a tour of the National Stadium and meeting with the stadium officials.
