The return of water
Just a few days left for one of the biggest, wettest, soca event of the year - 'WATA's Official and Original Water Party'. With main sponsors on board, WATA, Digicel Jamaica and Appleton Jamaica Rum, Island Mas Jamaica is raging and ready to go on Saturday, April 30, with their theme 'the return of water'.
This event has definitely become a major component of the carnival weekend and this year, the water will not disappoint. Wisynco's sponsorship and PR manager, Kimberly Lawson shared, "Wisynco saw the Water Party as a strong carnival event and the perfect opportunity for our brand WATA to title with."
She went on to say, "Over the years, Water Party has grown to dominate the carnival weekend by delivering the ultimate party experience to their patrons."
One of the promoters and director of Island Mas Jamaica, Andrew Bellamy shared, "As usual, we're ensuring that the ladies are well taken care of with our 'ladies free before 10 p.m. deal' and with an affordable admission package, we guarantee that the Water Party will be an easy choice for the true soca and party lovers over the carnival weekend. Gates will open at 9 p.m."
Bellamy went on to share "This year we've expanded yet again to include more water than ever before with the use of three water trucks, and a 'WATA mist station'. We've also increased the entertainment value by confirming Busy Signal to deliver world-class performances, and ultimately we've selected the most diverse musical deejays to deliver the best soca vibes for the season."
Very special year
Shelly-Ann Curran, senior sponsorship manager of Digicel, also expressed their feelings about the event saying, "This year is a very special year for Digicel - not only are we celebrating 10 great years in Jamaica, but we're also celebrating 10 wonderful years of being involved with carnival as a main sponsor. So partnering with Island Mas Jamaica for this event was only natural, in fact, it's a perfect fit. It's gearing up to be an exciting event and as with everything we do, we're looking forward to bringing the bigger, better vibes of Digicel to patrons on April 30th."
Soca selections will be done by a select few of highly capable mixing engineers for the night. ZJ Ice, DJ Billy, Richie Ras DJ Sanjay from Coppershot, and Dei Musicale from Trinidad will be "shelling it dung" all night with the best soca songs. Along with performances by Busy Signal and Voicemail and other surprise guest artistes, Water Party is bound to be a fun-filled thrilling night.
Appleton Jamaica, the partnering rum sponsor for the night, insisted that "The event never disappoints and we are thrilled to be a part of the event, with the element of Appleton Jamaica Rum in the blood of all soca junkies across the island on the night of Water Party, you can't go wrong with selecting this as your destination event for the night. They have great attractions and with their selection of artistes and DJs, it is impossible not to have a blast" said Jared Samuel from Wray and Nephew.
Bellamy shared that he is confident that the sponsors and patrons will enjoy the event. "We have partnered with veterans of the industry such as Wata, Digicel, and Appleton. We have carefully selected the best and most experienced DJs in the industry and the artiste selection will ensure the patrons jump and move, every step of every beat. We have kept the same venue as last year, the car park on Grenada Crescent, New Kingston and patrons can look forward to an ambiance creatively geared toward excitement, especially with the new mist station, slide zone and, of course, an excess of water to get soaking wet!"
