Turning food into cash

Food service entrepreneurs, cooks and cooking enthusiasts can participate in a food preparation workshop titled 'Turning Food into Cash', to start on May 7 at Heather Little-White and Associates, 6 Windsor Avenue, Kingston 5.

At a time when food prices are rising, the course is designed to assist participants in earning extra money from food through the innovative use of the glut of local food products, while providing more nutritious meals for consumers.

The training programme will offer instructions on ways of maximising the use of limited funds in the production of value-added products that will be in demand in the marketplace.

Several graduates from former courses have started their own food service business locally and internationally, while others have been making products to supplement their income from their mainstream jobs.
