Tivoli 'B', Boulevard win SVL titles

Tivoli Gardens 'B' and Boulevard Baptist captured the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Supreme Ventures A and C League titles, respectively, following victories over Blades United 'A' and Skibo C in the finals at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday.

Tivoli 'B' thrashed Blades United 50-28 to capture the A League title, while Boulevard Baptist outclassed Skibo 'C' 25-15 to claim the C League trophy.

The Sylvester Campbell-coached Tivoli took home the winning trophy and $110,000, while Blades United collected the runners-up trophy and $90,000. Ebony Strikers 'A' took home the third-place trophy and $60,000.

Boulevard Baptist received $70,000 and a trophy for winning the competition, while Skibo 'C' collected the second-place trophy and $60,000. Spanish Town Strikers captured the third-place title and $50,000.

Former national Under-16 representative, Sade Ffrench, led the way for Tivoli with 34 goals from 41 attempts, as they romped to a comfortable 29-14 lead at half-time.

Ffrench received solid support from Patricia Chambers, who netted 16 goals from 23 tries, as they outscored Blades United 21-14 in the final two quarters to register their victory.

Kayon Cousins (14 goals from 19 attempts) and Flevett Thomas (11 goals from 14 tries) were the main scorers for the Blades United team.

Most Valuable Player

Ffrench was voted the Most Valuable Player of the competition and in the process received a scholarship for $120,000. Latoya Grant of Blades United took home the runners-up prize and $60,000.

In the C League final, Boulevard Baptist dominated the match from the opening whistle as they led 14-7 at half-time and 18-12 at the end of the third period.

Nicolene Allen-Blackwood led the way for the Boulevard Baptist with 18 goals from 29 attempts, as they outscored their opponents 7-3 in the final quarter to take the victory.

Allen-Blackwood received support from Chellian McIntyre, who shot five goals from 11 attempts.

Nickesha Henry, 11 goals from 19 attempts, and Amanda Maragh, four goals from 14 attempts, were the scorers for the Skibo C.
