Felix on the double
NEW YORK (AP):
Allyson Felix will run the 200 and 400 metres at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, later this summer.
The 25-year-old sprinter announced the decision yesterday on her Twitter account: "Decided to go for the double (200/400) at WC's. Will be very difficult, but first step to accomplishing greatness is trying."
Felix had been hesitant to attempt both races, not wanting anything to derail her quest to win a fourth straight 200 crown at the World Championships in Daegu.
It's hardly an easy double because of all the rounds and how closely the two races are typically crammed together.
Felix won the 400m at the United States championships in June. With that, she became the first woman to win national titles in the 100, 200, and 400 in a career.
