Renaissance's anniversary, one of the most anticipated and creative parties of the summer, has gone futuristic. This year, the concept went outside planet Earth and, according to selector/promoter Delano Thomas, the experience is going to be out of this world.

Delano says that the party has been moved to a new venue and this will add to the futuristic concept because the patrons will be brought into a new atmosphere. "This year we are going all out with the décor to bring out the theme, because it's a tradition of Renaissance to switch up themes so that our patrons will get a new experience every time," he said.

The DJ revealed that the futuristic concept came about after a serious brainstorming session. He says that the concept symbolises the birth of the new generation of Renaissance, and that the new venue carries an out-of-this-world feeling. "When I first went to the new venue I felt new and I want patrons to get that same feeling. If you listen to the radio ad it's not even a human, it's a robot," he said.

The anniversary party will be held at the Old Coal Wharf, Port Royal, and Delano revealed that the Renaissance planning team is currently transforming the area into a new world. But will patrons jump in their space shuttles and launch off to the new venue? Delano explained that the venue may be further from Kingston than their supporters may be accustomed to, but they will support the party because of its excellent quality. "I've seen patrons turn out to parties further than this one; plus, the atmosphere at this venue is better and the distance from the congestion gives us more freedom to party," he said.

Ongoing deal

The Red Stripe-sponsored event is alcohol-inclusive for the general public and all-inclusive for the VIPs. Co-sponsor, telecommunications company LIME, also has an ongoing deal for partygoers. Every ticket purchased at select LIME stores will carry a bonus prize of a 'Just Talk' calling credit valued at $200. Detox will be provided by CARIMED, and Delano said Renaissance is committed to drinking responsibly, making note of their long-standing partnership with Red Stripe which advocates 'Think Responsibly, Drink Responsibly'.

The music will be dispensed by Renaissance resident DJs, as well as special guests that the promoter said will remain as part or the wow factor.

Renaissance's 22nd anniversary party takes place tomorrow. Tickets cost $1,500 for women and $1,800 for men, while the gate price is $2,200. VIP tickets cost $3,000 for the all-inclusive experience.
