Sporting, Harbour View tie

Harbour View crashed Sporting's late hope of sneaking into the Red Stripe Premier League first end-of-round final, when Romaine Campbell volleyed home a left-footed beauty in the 83rd minute for the two to share a 1-1 draw at Brancourt yesterday.

Campbell, a second half substitute, who in tandem with Andre Steele resuscitated Harbour's second half play, cancelled out Levaughn Williams' goal that was scored in the 74th minute.

Sporting stayed in the hunt once Williams scored and news circulated that Village United led Portmore 2-0.

But all Sporting's attacking energy seemed to have been extinguished once Campbell punctuated an otherwise unenterprising afternoon with one of the goals of the season.

In the end, Sporting missed out after ending on 16 points, two less than Portmore.

"I was disappointed with the first half but in the second half we saw a better effort and could have taken more from the game. But it was a fair performance against a good side in the circumstances," said Vassell 'Tutu' Reynolds, the Sporting Central Academy coach.

Harbour View's assistant coach, Harold Taylor, said: "The first half was difficult because of the set up of players, but I suppose the positive was (that) the second half substitutions were purposeful and showed the strength of our younger players."
