Woodleigh shooters set to go fast and furious

Woodleigh Shooting Range in May Pen will host some of Jamaica's top shooters tomorrow in the much-anticipated pistol tournament dubbed " The Woodleigh Fast & Furious Pistol Tournament."

Shooters will be testing their speed and accuracy in five gruelling courses of fire, with all open targets set at fairly close range. The usual courses, comprising small steel plates, penalty no-shoot targets and hard covers to slow down their (competitors') movements have all been removed for this match. This gives them (shooters) the opportunity to go as fast as they can.

High overall winner of the Emancipation Championship held earlier this year on July 31, Lesgar "Speedy" Murdock and high limited-division winner, Andy "Fast Foot" Yapp, will be hard pressed to repeat, as the ever-improving Ryan Bramwell has already sounded the warning by winning the Peter Shim Memorial last weekend at the Jamaica Rifle Association. It is expected also that veterans Ron Brown Jnr and Tony "TJ" Johnson will be gunning to take a position in the top ranks.

excitement filled day

Spectators will be treated to a day full of excitement, especially on the newly built "Zip Line" stage where shooters will be trying to negotiate targets hung on a fast moving line.

Woodleigh Shooting Range hosted the biggest pistol tournament to date in Jamaica, in July with the staging of the "Emancipation Pistol Championship" and is set to better the record with this match as the anticipated numbers so far have been overwhelming.

Competitors will be gunning against each other in six different classes, open, A, B, C, D and law enforcement.
