Massive Jamaica 50 concert closes Denbigh
After three days of showcasing the best in Jamaica's agriculture, livestock, and horticulture, the 2012 staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show fittingly closed its doors with a grand concert in recognition of Jamaica's 50th anniversary of Independence.
The concert, which kicked off at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening, was put on by telecommunications sponsor Digicel and featured the likes of Lovindeer, Roy Rayon, Romain Virgo, Dalton Harris, Tash and Delando.
Lovindeer did not disappoint, delivering hit after hit, including his 1988 smash, Wild Gilbert. This was followed by Government Boops, Big Belly Man, and What Police Can Do.
MR. FESTIVAL
Roy Rayon, otherwise known as 'Mr. Festival', had the crowd in a frenzy with songs like his 1985 winning song, Love Fever, followed by 1987's winning 2008 hit Rise and Shine, among others.
Following on from his success on the Sumfest stage, Romain Virgo delivered a sizzling performance. With songs like, I Know Better, I'm Rich in Love, and his rendition of Adele's Don't You Remember, Virgo easily captivated the crowd and had them asking for more.
Commenting on the concert, Tahnida Nunes, Digicel's sponsorship manager, said: "As a proud sponsor of Jamaican culture, it's always great to see the support that the Denbigh concert receives from patrons, especially now, at a time when Jamaica's pride is at an all-time high with the celebration of 50 years of Independence and the performance of our athletes in London. As a wholesome family event, Digicel is indeed pleased to be able to bring this kind of entertainment to close out three successful days of showcasing the best of Jamaica."
