Route 66 needs regulating!
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am writing to express my disgust with the service being provided by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC)
There are times that I have stood either in Mona or on Camp Road for more than an hour waiting on this bus. There are times when up to three buses go downtown and it is hours before they return.
When they go to Hermitage via Mona, it is very rare that they return through Mona Heights. Instead, they travel on Mona Road, especially after 7 p.m. and on Saturdays, leaving commuters stranded in Mona (I assume the crew believe that Mona Heights residents do not need the bus).
I have also observed, at times, the buses turning off by the American Embassy, especially when the traffic is heavy in the evenings, leaving commuters waiting at Matilda's Corner without the service.
Now that school and the University of the West Indies will soon reopen, this route has to be regulated. It can be a profitable route if it is managed properly.
Fed-up Commuter
