10 things you didn't know about Sandra Minott-Phillips, QC
1. She is a former student of St Hugh's High School, where she swam competitively for the school in the '70s.
2. Sandra did a stint as a dancer in a weekly half-hour live entertainment programme hosted by Errol Lee on then JBC TV, The Errol Lee Show.
3. At 17, she was the youngest person ever invited to become a member of the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica. She was a principal dancer with the company in the '70s and '80s, and was invited by the late founder and artistic director Professor Rex Nettleford to perform in the company's 40th anniversary season of dance in 2002.
4. For her first degree, Sandra majored in mass communication and English literature. Her first job was in advertising and public relations as an account executive at Media Advisory & Research Services Limited. One of her first assignments was doing a public relations piece on a speech made by Audley Shaw in 1982, when he worked at then Jamaica National Investment Promotion Limited (now JAMPRO).
5. Sandra is of the firm belief that Munro College is Jamaica's best-kept secret in the education of our nation's young men, and wishes it could be replicated (boarding included in every parish of the island).
6. The thing she abhors most in life is excuses. She says she is seriously allergic to excuses and has absolutely no interest in the 101 reasons why a thing was not done or did not happen.
7. She is a published writer of several fictional short stories.
8. She is an acknowledged nit-picking perfectionist who relies on her obsessive compulsive disorder tendencies for disaster avoidance.
9. Sandra has been married to Dr Peter Phillips for 25 years and is a stepmother to four, mother of two, and stepgrandmother of 10!
