With more than 350 cars on show on the grounds of the National Stadium, St Andrew, the organisers of 'Import Tuner Night:Uniting the Street', are very pleased with the event.
Staged by Skunk Nation on Saturday, July 6, the sheer volume of vehicles and patrons led to the authorities considering closing down the event.
President of Skunk Nation Jamaica, Nick Lue, said the group accomplished its objectives. "The event was successful and the attendance was tremendous. It was set out the same way we had envisioned it. Minor tweaks and twerks here and there, but as time goes on we'll change for the future. On the last day leading up to the event, the phone kept blowing up with people wanting to have their cars at the event," Lue said.
Staged in association with ATL Automotives, Import Tuner Night featured several popular car clubs. These included the Subaru Owners Club of Jamaica, Tezza World Jamaica, Team Misery (a group of Honda owners), P and L Racing, BAD Racing from Mandeville, Manchester, and DRN Racing, based in Montego Bay, St James.
A number of high-performance motors cars, the Jamaica Classic Car Club, bikes, new and used-car dealers, and an exciting display of some of Jamaica's hottest street cars, also added to the vibrancy of Import Tuner Night.
Skunk Nation Jamaica also added a bikini contest, which saw 12 young ladies vying for a chance to become the Skunk Nation ambassador. Sue Ann Gordon emerged the champion.
An international film crew, representing two of the most viewed Internet car shows - Honda Day, hosted by Javier Ortega, and NYCEs1.com - recorded Import Tuner Night.
