Red carpet and awards season kicked off with major style statements with the Golden Globes last Sunday. Red carpet season is a big determinant of how fashion and styles are interpreted from Spring/Summer 2014 from the catwalk to the red carpet. There were so many amazing and superchic styles from the Golden Globes, that Outlook had to break down our best and worst dressed.

Best Dressed (Fidge Glam stamp of approval)

1. Lupita Nyongo (12 Years a Slave)

Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)

Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street)

Matthew Machoney

Usher

Worst Dressed (Fidge is calling the Glambulance)

-Sandra Bullock

-Taylor Swift

-Drew Berrymore

-Julia Roberts

-Paula Patton

At left: Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine): Bow down to the fashion icon who looks amazing in a black lace Armani Prive Couture dress. Every awards season when Cate Blanchett walks the red carpet, she leaves us with our jaws dropped, wondering how she does it. She gets it right every time and there is no going wrong with her ever!

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves (Dallas Buyers Club): One of my favourite couples for the night and one of my favourite style couples to walk the red carpet. The sexy spouses look absolutely amazing together in his-and-hers Dolce & Gabbana. I loved that Matthew picked an unexpected dark forest green suit and Camila kept it super chic and sexy in an on-trend metallic and sequinned dress that she absolutely dazzled in. One of my fave picks of the night.

Lupita Nyongo (12 Years a Slave): My ultimate top pick for the night! She stunned the red carpet in a red Ralph Lauren dress and simple, yet chic, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. Her dress was reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow's unforgettable white Tom Ford gown from the 2012 Oscar Awards. Lupita's on-trend dress was a style stunner simply because she made her own statement and stood out from the rest. This red carpet newbie is a rising style icon and we all can't wait to see what she and her style team have up their sleeves for the SAGS and Oscars.
