A champagne moment on the waterfront
The Kingston waterfront was transformed into an oasis of black and white elegance last Sunday as Jacqui Tyson and her business partner, Dr Dennis Howard, reintroduced their famous 'Brunch & Rhythm' series to eager patrons who are all keen on the idea of the renaissance of downtown Kingston. This first staging, dubbed 'A champagne moment', is the first of a series of monthly instalments to tease and tantalise taste buds.
With a cool breeze coming off the Caribbean Sea and background music, dozens of specially invited patrons were re-introduced to Tyson's idea of what a transformed downtown Kingston could become. Special thanks was given to Digicel Jamaica who has bought into the vision of downtown Kingston's renaissance with the relocation of their regional headquarters.
Brunch & Rhythm was an idea that was introduced to Tyson by Dr Howard, as he wanted to find a way to bring downtown Kingston alive. Howard shared his history, dream, vision, and love for downtown Kingston with those in attendance, noting that he sees the brunch series as a "catalyst to the redevelopment of Kingston on the social scene".
The sentiments of Tyson and Howard were echoed by Mayor of Kingston Angela Brown Burke, who spoke highly of the brunch series, stating that it has "gained the respect of the treasured city". At the end, Brown Burke reaffirmed her endorsement, stating, "As Virginia Wolf often said, one cannot love and sleep well if one has not dined well."
Tyson noted that the brunch will have a few new additions this time around, including premium/private cabanas, personal waiter service, high-end champagne and top-shelf liquor, and a few new additions to the menu mixed with some of the old favourites. With that announcement, the waiters followed, all outfitted with trays filled with delectable eats, and Food was on hand to capture a few snapshots from the champagne moment on the waterfront.
