Jamaicans to compete in Greece

Olympic 200-metre champion Veronica Campbell-Brown will lead a strong Jamaican contingent at the Thessaloniki Olympic Meeting in Greece today.



Campbell Brown will line up in the women’s 100 metres along with compatriot Simone Facey, who will do the double.



The field also includes US Virgin Islands’ Laverne Jones, who has won three consecutive races in Europe, American World Indoor champion Angela Williams and British Virgin Islands’ Tahesia Harrigan and Maria Karastamati of Greece.



In the men’s sprint, Steve Mullings will represent Jamaica. The event also includes Antigua’s Brendan Christian, American Darvis Patton, who ran a 9 .89 second personal best at the US Olympic Trials and his countryman Mike Rodgers.



Other Jamaicans down to compete are Ricardo Chambers and Sanjay Ayre in the men’s 400, Olympic sprint hurdles fourth place finisher Maurice Wignal, Shevon Stoddart and Shereefa Lloyd in the women’s 400 and James Beckford in the men’s long jump.
