Barbados and Venezuela appear to be headed for a dispute over oil exploration.

Barbados last year launched an exploration bid for 70,000 square kilometres offshore.

The Venezuelan Energy Minister, Rafael Ramirez called the situation completely irregular.

He said he plans to discuss with Barbadian foreign ministry officials, the possible violation of Venezuela\'s sovereignty in that area of the Caribbean sea.

Barbados\' foreign minister Chris Sinckler insisted that the exploration blocks fall within the island\'s waters.
