JFF seeks technical director

With four weeks before Jamaica host Mexico in a crucial CONCACAF Semi-Final round qualifier the country is now searching for a new coach.

This follows the sudden sacking of Technical Director Rene Simoes, a few hours after the Reggae Boyz were beaten 2-0 by hosts Honduras in a crucial Group ‘B’ qualifier in San Pedro Sula on Wednesday night.

The defeat was a major setback in the Reggae Boyz’ quest to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Captain Horace Burrell, said a replacement would be announced in seven days.

Following three away matches, the Reggae Boyz are on one point and will need to win their remaining three matches at home to stand a chance of advancing to the CONCACAF final group of six.

Mexico lead the four-team group with maximum nine points. Honduras moved to six points, while Canada are also on a point.

The local-based Reggae Boyz returned from Honduras yesterday.
