WI coach criticises standard of domestic game
West Indies head coach John Dyson has criticized the standard of the domestic game in the Caribbean after Pakistan completed a 3-nil whitewash of the one-day series in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
Dyson said the inter-island tournaments in the Caribbean are not producing players ready for international level.
He also said he is frustrated as the newcomers lack the basic skills for international cricket.
In the final One Day International, Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan put West Indies into a promising position with a stand of 151, but West Indies then fell apart and lost nine for 74.
It followed their final-over defeat in the opening game, when Jerome Taylor conceded 17 in his last over and a batting collapse in the second match as Shivnarine Chanderpaul was left stranded on 107.
West Indies’ next international commitment is a month-long tour of New Zealand which starts in December and includes two Tests, two 20/20 internationals and five One Day Internationals.
