Canada new budget

Canada\'s minority Conservative government is to unveil a new budget, which it said would boost the slowing economy.

The government said it would spend whatever is necessary to stimulate the country\'s economy in the midst of the global economic downturn.

The pledge was made at the opening session of parliament, which was suspended six weeks ago when a row over the budget escalated into a crisis.

Votes on the budget are set to start later this week.

A defeat would result in the Government being dissolved.

The budget is being billed as the most important economic blueprint in a generation, putting public funds into struggling sectors such as the car and forestry industries.

Two opposition parties, the New Democrats and the Bloc Quebecois, have already said they will vote against the budget.
