West Indies/ England face off

West Indies ‘A’ team, choosing to bat, reached 103 for one on the opening day of the three-day warm up match against England at Warner Park in St Kitts.

James Anderson’s seventh-over success was the only wicket to fall before lunch after the hosts won the toss in the pre-Test warm up.

In what is effectively a bowl-off for Test places next week, Anderson set a trap for attacking opener Kieran Powell and was rewarded when the teenager, on 14 runs, pulled straight to deep midwicket.

Adrian Barath and Lendl Simmons were both on 44, sharing an array of expansive strokes

The game is the last tune-up for England before the first Digicel Test match in Jamaica starting next Wednesday.

The tourists are resting key player Andrew Flintoff after the big all-rounder was bothered by soreness in his left side during their tour opener against St Kitts and Nevis.
